April 14, 2025

The benefit concert will “Turn Up the Volume on Homelessness” and raise vital funds for Union Rescue Mission’s services and programs for families and individuals on the streets of Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (April 14, 2025) – An unforgettable night of music, hope and purpose is coming to the Peacock Theater on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, for Union Rescue Mission (URM)’s Just Help 1 concert featuring Sheryl Crow, Lauren Daigle, and Andy Grammer, each performing their own set. The trio of artists will unite to spark change, bring healing, and give voice to those who’ve gone unheard in the Los Angeles region due to homelessness. Sponsorship and tickets are now available at JustHelp1.org.

The star-studded concert, called “Turn Up the Volume on Homelessness,” is the largest in the 134-year history of the Union Rescue Mission and the primary fundraising event for the nonprofit’s current “Just Help 1” campaign that is enabling it to provide real solutions to homelessness in Los Angeles despite very little government support. Each artist will play a 45-minute set with the benefit concert emceed by a special guest, who will soon be announced.

Proceeds from the evening will go directly to helping URM provide life-changing services and programs to the more than 50,000 families and individuals living on the streets of Los Angeles and the 78,000 people in Los Angeles County experiencing homelessness on any given night. URM is a refuge of help and hope.

Mark Hood, CEO of Union Rescue Mission shared his vision on the concert saying, “Our mission in Los Angeles has a 134-year history of never saying ‘no.’ We strive to be much more than a shelter. We are a solution to homelessness for every person that walks through our doors and an organization that creates life transformation. The inaugural Just Help 1 benefit concert is a night of music and hope, as we bring together three incredible performers to shine a light on the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.”

The “Turn Up the Volume on Homelessness” concert will help URM continue to provide more than meals and shelters. It will enable it to offer individuals and families a variety of programs that serve the whole person in mind, body and spirit at three locations: Skid Row, Hope Gardens, and Angeles House. Services and programs include Emergency Services for shelter, food, health and legal clinics, counseling and more; The Gateway Project, designed for single men and women who need personalized services to get back on their feet; Life-Transformation Ministry, a 12-month program addressing addiction and issues at the root cause of homelessness; and, the Learning Center, a multimedia educational facility equipped with 30 online computer terminals and staffed by credentialed LAUSD Belmont Adult Day School Instructors.

Every year, URM serves 734,505 meals, provides 484,315 nights of shelter, gives refuge to more than 6,000 men, women and children, hosts 15,000 health and legal clinic sessions, and celebrates over 500 individuals and families finding permanent housing. In addition to being the oldest and largest rescue mission in Southern California, Union Rescue Mission is also one of the most efficient, with 86 cents of every dollar it receives going directly into life-changing programs.

About the “Just Help 1” Campaign:

For many, the high cost of living and soaring prices for basic necessities are forcing people into homelessness and onto the streets. The numbers seem insurmountable. But together, with the guidance and support system of Union Rescue Mission, there is a solution. Los Angeles is home to more than 18 million people. If everyone just helps 1 – one child, one family, one individual – the community can make a difference, together. To learn more or donate, visit JustHelp1.org.

About Union Rescue Mission:

Union Rescue Mission (URM) is the oldest rescue mission in Southern California and one of the largest in the U.S., offering a beacon of hope and compassion for people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles for 134 years. Through its Skid Row shelter and Hope Gardens and Angeles House family centers, URM provides tens of thousands of men, women, and children with more than just a hot meal and bed for the night – but also the skills training and classes, counseling, health clinics, and spiritual support they need to transform their lives.

URM programs allow it to provide real homelessness solutions geared toward the whole person—mind, body and spirit—and to keep families together in the name of Jesus Christ.  Emergency Services offers shelter, food, health and legal clinics, and counseling. The Gateway Project provides single men and women with a personalized approach to getting back on their feet. Life-Transformation Ministry is a 12-month program addressing addiction and other root causes of homelessness. And the Learning Center is a multimedia educational facility staffed by credentialed LAUSD Belmont Adult Day School Instructors. To learn more, visit URM.org.
